Wastewater Services
Wastewater service may be available through Texas Water Co, or billed on behalf of a third-party wastewater provider. Please be aware that "wastewater" and "sewer" are often used interchangeably.
Types of Wastewater Systems
There are typically two types of wastewater systems within the service area:
- Gravity - A conventional wastewater system with conduits utilizing the energy resulting from an elevation difference to remove unwanted water. The term sewer implies the removal of sewage or surface runoff rather than water intended for use. The term gravity excludes water movement induced through force mains or vacuum sewers.
- Pressure* - We use this less conventional wastewater system in certain areas because of a conventional sewer system's unsuitability and/or cost. The pressure sewer system consists of a pumping unit installed on your property connected to a network of pipes from other pumping units in your area.
*If you are in an area that uses the pressure wastewater system, we require you to maintain a wastewater system with potential additional maintenance agreements.
